Allergy season is upon us...at least here in FL. The orange tree blossoms smell heavenly, but hell on the allergies. I've struggled so much today that I feel like my nose is about to fall off from all the blowing and wiping. Hopefully it will all be over soon, because it's already been a week of this stuff and my medicine isn't helping anymore. :(

Tomorrow is Christmas! My boys can hardly wait. I'm just hoping they don't wake me up too early ads I know I'm going to bed late tonight.

My family have our big dinner on Christmas Eve. Not turkey or ham, but more Cuban style. We normally cook a pork shoulder marinated Cuban style (mojo seasoning), black beans, rice, Cuban bread, fried plantains, and flan. There are a few variations each year, like I added a veggie dish, but that's the jist of the menu. Christmas day is either leftovers or whatever we decide to cook like a regular day. This tradition goes back to when my husband was going up after coming over from Cuba when he was just a young child. Since I love the food so much, I had no problem settling into the routine. Don't miss the ham, stuffing, and such at all. lol

So what kind of Christmas tradition do you have? Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Have a special meal on Christmas day or the day before? Or maybe you have a tradition you'd like to start. I'm all ears.

Between entertaining all weekend and the time change (why in the world do we even have daylight savings time *pfft*) I was thrown all out of wack and forgot my Tantilizing Tuesday *gasp! no hotties*

I am still tapping away for NaNo month, though I am behind in my word count. I'm hoping to find some time these next few days to really catch up, because Caesar's story is coming along nicely (IMO). He's having a lot of fun with Sterling. Or rather, should I say a lot of sex - lol.

So I have a question for all of you. Can a story have too much sex? When do you think it's too much? Where do you draw a line when you think "Alright, already. They can't possibly do it again!"

Just interested in some opinions.

And yes, I have read a story (no not telling which) when I just couldn't take it anymore.

I'm working hard on trying to get Willing Captive rewritten for submission to a publisher. Kinks R Us will need to be reworked also before I can find it a home.

But November is just days away and many of you know what that means...NaNo month! (National Novel Writing Month - http://www.nanowrimo.org/ ) I've attempted it for a few years now, but life just always got in the way one way or another. But my goal this year is to actually complete it. *Go positive thinking!* My goal is to get Caesar's story (from Fallen Angels) told (M/M with strong BDSM theme because my Fallen Angels are a kinky bunch) - crossing fingers and begging my muse to behave for just one month.

So I hope you all will check back often to see my progress and help me out when I get stuck. I'll even share tidbits from the story if you'd like throughout the month.
And since I'll be busy writing, I hope to share with you some links to other blogs and articles that I come across... starting today. ^-^

The Love Dress

A woman stopped by, unannounced, at her son's house.

She knocked on the door then immediately walked in.

She was shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked. Soft music was playing, and the aroma of perfume filled the room.

"What are you doing?!" she asked.

"I'm waiting for Mike to come home from work," the daughter-in- law answered.

"But you're naked!" the mother-in-law exclaimed.

"This is my love dress," the daughter-in-law explained.

"Love dress? But you're naked!"

"Mike loves me and wants me to wear this dress," she explained." It excites him to no end. Every time he sees me in this dress, he instantly becomes romantic and ravages me for hours on end. He can't get enough of me"

The mother-in-law left.

When she got home, she undressed, showered, put on her best perfume, dimmed the lights, put on a romantic CD, and lay on the couch, waiting for her husband to arrive. Finally, her husband came home. He walked in and saw her lying there so provocatively.

"What are you doing?" he asked.
"This is my love dress," she whispered sensually.
"Needs ironing," he said. "What's for dinner?
He never heard the gunshot.

It's been ages since I've done this. I hope everyone has been having a good summer. It's been sooooo hot here in FL. Even the weather men say that the past 2 weeks have been herindious when it comes to heat index temps. Really, if you're not doing something involving water, it's just a lot more comfy indoors. And it's a shame since we had a total of 2 weeks of spring this year, so I miss sitting out on my porch working.

Well, a month from yesterday my boys start high school. Where has half the summer gone? Perhaps it was all the computer trouble I had that made it seem to fly by. Got a new router and a new hard drive (LOVE warranties). Let's cross our fingers that the rest is smooth sailing. *g*

Hmm, let's see what's been up. I've completed a M/M fantasy story titled Kinks R Us and submitted it to one of my editors. That 25K story ended up 43,500K after I went through the editing stage. *whew* It had a mind of its own.

My M/F space opera - Willing Captive - was rejected *sigh* :( so I've got it with a beta reader and working on some changes. I'd like to find a home for it by the end of the year.

Also, I've decided to start another Fallen Angels story. This one features Caesar from Marc & Adam's merry band. He's sent on an undercover assignment and discovers more than he bargained for...along with the a man who craves to bring Caesar to his knees.

Dragon Riders 3 has stalled. My two dragons weren't playing nice. I'm hoping to get back started on it sometime before the end of the year.

I hope everyone is having a good summer. My husband has off next week, so I really need to sit and do some posts in advance so that we can go off and enjoy ourselves with some day trips. No big summer vacation for us. We're looking into an Alaskan Cruise around Christmas time. :)

Unfortunately my laptop crapped out on me - hard drive died - and I'm waiting for the replacement hard drive. *sigh* So I'm having to share the 'family' computer. All my files and such on on my external hard drive, but some didn't quite take when I updated my main files last week, so I'm going to have to spend some $$ and try to get the recent stuff off my dead hard drive, if it's possible *grrrr* So I may not be much on schedule this week until I get it all running again. Maybe I'll have time to tell you my opinion of Eclipse (went and saw it Friday night) *G* ooh, and maybe I will find the pics again that I was going to post. Until then...

In search of a beta reader...

I had hoped that I could bypass having a beta reader, but honestly, I'm finally admitting that I need some help. *sigh* I'm looking for someone who has a strong grasp on grammer (as that is a huge downfall of mine) and can help point out redundancy or if there are any plot holes. Since I write both gay and heterosexual stories, I'd like to have one person I can use for both types, but it's not a requirement at this time. Right now I have a m/f futuristic/space story (with one menage scene) that needs some attention and outside eyes. The length is about 60K, so it's not a one-nighter read.

Bullet by Laurell K Hamilton - my opinion

I’ve just spent the last day and half completely entranced by Laurell K Hamilton’s latest Anita Blake book, Bullet. I hadn’t even realized it was close to being released until I decided to look at the book section in Walmart yesterday. I guess that’s what I get for reading her last one late and not keeping tabs as of late.

Spoilers below! If you don’t mind them, keep reading.
Back in April, I gave my opinion on Fling. I liked it a lot and it brought me back to why I fell in love with this series. But can I say that I thought that Bullet was absolutely perfect! In my opinion anyway. *g* I thought it had the perfect balance of action, emotion, and sex. Okay, maybe I just really liked the sex parts too much in this book. But I’ll say that this is my FAVORITE book yet.
I say that – and I don’t say it very often – because of two things:

One – Richard is back! And not just back, but really stepping up to the plate, so to speak. Yes, he’s still got some issues, like still wanting to have a normal life, but he’s been in therapy and since Anita took all her anger back, well, he’s more reasonable. But it’s also great to see that he’s part of something special and that he needs to help out also, even if he doesn’t like the things he has to do. At least he has a support group. This is the Richard I’d always knew he could be. *doing happy dance and singing*
Two – The man-on-man sex! Finally, exactly what my heart has been desiring. Yes, Mrs. Hamilton has been hinting at this stuff through much of the series once she started being in all this men, especially since Asher, but give the woman a high five for bringing it on full force. Of course, it did take Asher having a hissy fit for her truly to see what she’s been unknowingly denying him and really herself and Jean Claude (she’s such a voyeur, I love it). And then to bring Richard and some H-O-T BDSM scene…whew, I was a happy, happy woman (geez, now I want to go and reread that scene). Richard is such a dominate character, that he’s soo damn sexy when he is himself. She can do this anytime in future books. *wink* But also, there was a f/f scene and a f/f/m scene together with Anita in the center. That too was different and hot for this character. Also, wonderful Micah realizes and starts showing his love for Nathaniel in more than just the bed. *yay* And yes, Anita is finally okay with it all. That makes it so much better.
Yes, Anita discovers some new powers and we see her with her own triumvirates – I’ve really missed Damian – and how they discover to combine the two. This book really centers on the legend that the Vegas clan tells about how to kill Mommie Darkest (*gasp* yes, she still alive…well in a way and causing havoc) and it involves weretigers of all colors. And yes, she has sex to bind them to her, but that again revolves around Belle’s aka Jean Claude’s bloodline. Anita is really a badass…but she also has her vulnerabilities.
In dealing with some of the action parts of the book itt is reinforced just how much Anita really loves Nathanial and that she and Micah are truly a mated pair. Also, that she doesn’t want to be a monster but will do all she can to protect those she loves. It hurts her to be The ONE to do some of the dirty work, but she also can’t seem to let others do her work either. It’s part of being dominate and a leader. The one who can keep them safe in the end.

*sigh* It was one of those books I couldn’t put down and am sad to see that I’ve finished it. Despite the repetitive facts that Mrs. Hamilton throws in here and there and long descriptions that takes two pages to read – though short ones would be nice when reintroducing characters that we haven’t seen in several books – I am eagerly awaiting the next Anita Blake book.
I think the result of this book between fans will be a toss up. Some will like it, some will hate it. Yes, much will revolve around sex, but that’s her power. That’s who she is and how she is. Others, like me will love it.

Okay, I know this is going to come up as Tuesday, but really, I started this before midnight on Monday. Just having trouble with my crappy net service. I mean really, have you ever seen a satelite dish rust in less than 2 years? Our Directv dish we've had for ages and not a speck of rust. I'm sure that's causing all my outage rather than the weather because it's been beautiful here - mostly.

Weakness - Free Read

Okay, I'm hoping to bring my readers some extra little goodies this year by the way of free reads. Basically some short stories that I've written in the past and touched up; most that are too short to be submitted to a publisher or doesn't fit guidelines.

I've uploaded a story titled Weakness. It's a futuristic story I wrote ages ago for a writing assignment. I extended it from its original length and find that it's more fleshed out. There's also potential for more stories from this world I'm creating.

Clash of the Titans - Movie

Since the kiddies are out of town, last night was date night with hubby. :) We went to see Clash of the Titans – 3D. First off, the original 1981 version was one of my favorite fantasy/mythical movies. Yes, I know the graphics are cheesy, but it was an action romance. *dreamy sigh* Hey, I was younger than my own kids when it came out, reality hadn’t hit me yet. But I do have to say that it was that movie that got me into Mythology. I still like reading/learning about all the gods of Olympus, which I guess is why I enjoyed the Percy Jackson book series.

Anyway, from reviews I’d read on Fandango I knew that the movie’s plot had changed. I just didn’t realize just how much. So if you haven’t seen it yet, be fore warned…it’s only loosely based on the 1981 version.

Overall, the movie was great. The action scenes were well done, the graphics awesome (much much better than the original lol), and the actor who played Perseus… well, he was drool-ishess :P You’ll also meet new characters (the Djinn and a black pegasus) and miss old ones (like the owl *pout* ) And there was less interaction of the other gods too. Also if you know anything about mythology, you’ll notice how they twisted the tales. For example, in the movie Hades was the one who controlled the Kraken, when really it was Poseidon who wielded control over the creature. Along with who the bad guy was – Hades taking over rather than Hera’s jealousy. Also, I believe the 3D effects were kind of useless. There was little difference with or without the glasses.

But I won’t give away the movie. I thought it was a really well done movie and enjoyed the showing. I also thought that the actors who played Zeus and Hades gets two-thumbs up from me.

This whole movie made me think once more of doing a book based on either Hades (change him somewhat) or maybe one of his demigod ‘kids’. Hmmm, needless to say, it got the plot bunnies working. :D
So if you want to see an action movie with some really good graphics (upgraded from the original), then take a couple of hours and check it out. IMO, anyway.

My babies are off to Washington DC for a few days. :( It's quiet, but it will really hit me when it comes time for them to come home and they don't. *sigh* They are almost 14, guess I've got to let go sometime.

Anyway, here's a bit of a hmmm... that was sent to me. :)

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blu-Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dang it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.

I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

Just finished Carrie Vaughn's Kitty's House of Horrors and this seemed appropriate. Great story by the way, despite some characters getting killed off *wiping tear* But I won't spoil it and say which ones. Definitely full of suspense. Now I'm starting Kingdom Keepers. A YA book that my son has been bugging me to read. It's about a group of kids in Disney after it's closed. A movie is coming out soon, so let's hope it doesn't disappoint like the Percy Jackson movie did.

Due to my weekend schedule, I actually had time to do some reading. Earlier this week, because of several doctor appointments for my mother-in-law, I was able to finish Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Great book, wonderful series! I can't wait to read more of them. :)

However, the one I finished earlier today was Flirt by Laurell K Hamilton. The latest Anita Blake book. I was hesitant on reading this book, especially since I spent extra money because I didn't want to wait another year to get it in softback. I fell in love with the Anita Blake series a couple of years ago and quickly got caught up. However, like many of her other fans, I noticed a big change in the series. It had become more sex than plot. Okay, I have no objection against sex, but every other page? And occassionally I felt that it didn't continue to progress the storyline, but just a filler to make the book longer -- remember, I said occassionally. ;)
I'll admit, I'm a huge Jason and Richard fan. I dislike the direction of Anita and Richard's relationship has taken over the course of the last several books, but I still hold out hope that he'll come to his senses and 'share'. And I adored the turn in Jason and Anita's relationship - about time - and glad they are still friends over lovers.
Anyway, this book took me back to why I liked the series...almost. It wasn't as exciting, per say as the first books, but it didn't revolve around her hookng/having sex with a character. Yeah, it happened, but eventually and it was only because it was a necessity.
Hamilton also cut down on the cast of characters for this book. Jean-Claude's not even in here, just her three main animals to call, along with some new were-lions.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and had a hard time putting it down. If you are a Anita Blake fan I'm glad to say that I think that she may be trying to get back to the tough-ass heroine we all fell in love with...just with a bit more baggage and a little more sensitivity and control. Hey everyone's got to grow, right?

My biggest complaint: It was only 158 pages!!! Come on...what's up with that?

I'll be reading the next AB installment.

However, I'm not sure about her latest Merry Gentry book. I don't rely solely on reviews, but when the majority (like 8 of 10 type of numbers) are really bad...well, it makes me pause. Maybe when it comes out in paperback I'll pick it up and see...

Bon Jovi high

I'm really trudging along today. Still recouping from a late night last night as I got to cash in my birthday gift. I went and saw Bon Jovi in concert. ^_^
I've been a fan of them since the beginning, before the Slippery When Wet album came out and I've always wanted to see them live. It's taken over 20 years and yeah, we had nose-bleed section seats, but I had a great time! The group are great performers and the excitement in the air was awesome. Though I don't go to many concerts, that vibe is what I love best about sitting in the stadium/forum. Oh, and they played all my favorite songs (of course), closing out with Living on a Prayer. :D And despite Jon Bon Jovi being older than me (the same as as my husband, yet Jon and I share the same bday - cool, huh?) he's still a hottie - IMO :P Not to mention my slashy mind at work when Jon and Richie shared a mic. So close...;)

My only complaint was the length of time between the opening band (who wasn't really introduced but I'm thinking it was Dashboard Confessions, but only because a friend told me that her sister saw them just a week or so ago and send me a couple of their videos which they played those songs). The band wasn't bad, but the lull had the excitement/energy die down abit until Bon Jovi got onto stage.

Overall, I had a wonderful time and it's worth the tiredness today. :)

I hope everyone had a good Easter. It was the end of spring break for my own children, but the beginning of spring break for my granddaughter (7), who I am watching this week. It's quite the experience, as I was raised with two brothers, I ended up with four sons, and yet, somehow, I have 3 granddaughters. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with them. lol Girls are so different than boys. I'm just glad she doesn't ask for me to do more than comb her hair because my ponytails and the like are autrocious. It's really a shame sometimes and gives everyone quite the laugh. But I did actually sit down and watch one of those animated Barbie movies - the mermaid one. Cool hair, but wow, I don't remember girls being so prissy where I come from. I can only imagine our upcoming shopping day. :P

Been a rough and busy week. Had a friend give birth, celebrated my birthday this week (ugh, getting old) and also attended a funeral *sigh* On top of it all, I'm finishing the edits on the rough draft of Beautiful Lies to get to my editor and actually started a sequel to Testing Passion *yay*. Oh, yeah, and brainstormin a couple of m/m ideas. :P Have a wonderful weekend. I know I'll be working, which isn't a bad thing.

Movie Review: The Lightening Thief

I took my boys to the much anticipated movie - Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief. Knowing the movie was coming out and after much bugging from one of my sons I read the 5 book series...in a week! Yes, it was that good, in my opinion. I love mythology and the author truly knew how to twist it to be entertaining and original.

If you've read the books...DON'T GO TO THE MOVIE!

Yes, I made that quite loud didn't I. I've never seen a story so butchered in my life. Don't get me wrong, the movie was done very well. I loved the special effects, the actors were great, and if I didn't know the storyline, it would have been perfect. However, that's not the case. And I can't help but wonder how the authro signed off on this movie?

Obviously, there isn't a sequel scheduled for this movie - at least I hope not. Because they left out all the major points, conflicts, and bits that made up the book series. First off, they made the gods too formal. In the books, Poseidon is almost always wearing laid back fisherman clothes and flip flops, not some roman battle gear. The 'human' characterization to the gods was a really piogent part of the series that I liked. So to make them so...serious and stiff was a dissapointment.

There's no mention of the reason for Camp Half-Blood, Percy being kicked out all previous schools, the agreement for the big 3 not to have more kids since WWII because they are too powerful which leads to the big prophecy - big plotline for the entire series - , Percy's dreams, Kronos, or even the Oracle who gives the demigods their quests. Also, it seems as if everyone knows who their godly parent is, which is another conflict throughout the series. So Percing being Poseiden's son was no surprise and of course that meant they left out how they discovered he was the son of one of the 3 big gods. Then there are all the pool scenes that they included. *sigh*

Instead, the main deal with the movie is that no god is allow contact with their mortal child after born or they might become too human. *pfft* And Percy's quest is self assigned since Hades pops up and says that he has his mom. So he's got to go and find all of Persephone's pearls to get out of Hades once he has rescued her.

Not!

In the book they are a gift from another god and he doesn't get his mother out of Hades that way.

Oh, don't get me started on Hades and Persephone. Yeah, he's a butt, but they portrayed his wife as a slut. Honestly, out of all the different versions of her, I've never heard that one and it certainly wasn't portrayed that way in the series.

Then there was Annabeth, Percy's female friend that accompanies him on all the quests. She's the daughter of Athena, so she has wisdom. She's a genius at architecture, has lots of great plans and ideas and then this really cool Yankees hat that turns her invisible. That's in the book. The movie just has her as a sidekick. No ideas on how to get out the trouble that follows them or even her nifty hat. What a waste of a great character. Which brings me to their age. In the books Percy is brought in at 12 yrs old and doesn't realize he had feelings for Annabeth until what? book 3 when they're about 14. Reasonable. The movie has them probably around 15 or 16 and filled with sexual tension and about to kiss o_O I'm all for romance, obviously, but dang it, it's just not right.

There were also a lot of massacres to the plot that I'd spend all day picking it apart...like the location they fought the hydra (I don't even think that was in the Lightening Thief but a later book) and what happened to the big fight with Ares and not Luke? Yeah, they messed with the bad guy and the reason behind it all too. *sigh* Even his weapon. A writing pen that turns into a sword. They don't say that it's a cursed sword or that it will appear in Percy's pocket if he loses it within minutes. Oh, and then the movie says to click it to activate it. *banging head on the table* No, it's a pen that has a cap that has to be removed. UGH! They even took out the blue quirk that Percy shared with his mom. That would have been a good relief to see.

So my advise is not to see it if you've read the books.
But have at it if you haven't. :)

Basically, they made it a dark story without all the fun quirks that made it a fun and entertaining read. It was a great disappointment for me. Heck, even the Twilight series and Harry Potters series stays to the basic plotline.

Sorry for the rant. Guess I'm done now, though it still bugs me. *sigh* But such is life. Can't have everything perfect, can we?

What a week!

I know I haven't had any posts this week. It's really been a wild ride for me. Tuesday I made two trips to the airport (Orlando - it's one big circle maze) trying to get my husband and his mother off to New York so they could visit family. Oh, did I mention I got a little lost when I had to go and pick them up several hours after I'd dropped them off? Apparently you can get to the airport from nearly any exit in the Orlando area according to my Garmin. I swear, it reminded me of that episode of ER where this couple drove into a lake because their Navigator told them to keep going straight. LOL I just waiting to find myself barreling into something.

Anyway, the plane broke. At least that's what they told my husband. When he told me that I pictured one of my children (the destructive one) holding a toy plane in his hand and then it snapping apart. So rather than getting into NY at like 3 or 4 in the morning, they opted to take a flight the next day.
Oh, did I mention that they couldn't find their luggage.

Thankfully all went well the next day and they arrived safely and on time to NY. And their luggage was there waiting. :) It had gotten there the night before.

During this entire time I was trying really had to finish my latest story. I swear the ending was the hardest and there's still a sex scene I'm not happy with. I'll fix that come edits. So my little anticipated 20K futuristic/sci fi story ended at 50K. *gasp* I know, surprised me too, but the characters really took over the story and just wanted to keep going. Also managed to finally give it a title - Beautiful Lies. So, now I'm trying to get the synopsis done and off to my editor to see if they want it.

But back to my week...Thursday they had that bad storm in the NE area. So my poor mind kept getting easily distracted and bugging my husband on the cell. He probably wished he hadn't brought his - lol. But it was nice to sit in my PJs all day while the kids were in school.

Now after all the errands and housework is done, I can sit here and get back on schedule. :) Won't that be nice.
Let's hope that my husband's flight goes well tonight and I can have him home again.

I will most likely be waking up to rain and having to deal with it most of the day, which means my net connection is going to suck. But I guess that I can actually get some work done. :) My poor 20K futuristic story has exploded beyond 35K and still working on the ending. Everyone stay warm, I know we're cold here in FL but I saw that much of the west and of course the east coast is swamped with snow. Ever thought about moving south? LOL Oh, wait, that's why we have all these snow birds already. ^-^
